The installation Amputazioni features pollarded trees typical of the Dutch landscape. Whereas trimming trees used to provide utility wood, nowadays it serves other functional and aesthetic purposes. Giuseppe Licari sees the distinctive knots from the pruning wounds as symbolising the constant struggle between human domestication and natural growth.
