Golden Shelter

BIFA Trail Mix, BreckCreate, Moonstone Trail, Breckenridge, Colorado, USA, 2019.
Site-specific installation. Variable dimensions.
Space blankets, tape, cable ties, trees.

Addressing the urgency of climate change the installation Golden Shelter brings the attention to the importance of our forests for the survival of our planet, as we know it. The treesare covered with space blankets, initially developed by NASA to protect the space station from overheating. Later on they have become very popular in marathons and as emergency blankets to retain heat and cold. By wrapping the trees with emergency blankets the fragility of the ecosystem is manifested. Their materiality and golden colour interact with the natural elements moving with the wind and reflecting the light to the surrounding forest.
