Living Sweden
Open House, Iaspis, Stockholm 2011
A site-specific audiovisual installation with two photo video animations:
Dining with Susanna’s family and Dining with Nils’ family 2010-2011, 6 min. each.
Dimensions variable, living room setting.
Living Sweden is an installation where two family photo documentaries have been shown in a living room setting. Two families from Sweden, a traditional Sami and an urban multicultural family, which I met through advertisements on local newspapers and social networks, describe their identities and relation to their environment during a typical Christmas dinner. Completely different families from different social backgrounds and geographical locations, Stockholm and Kiruna, come to a conclusion of similar identity conflicts.
This project was made possible with the support of Fonds BKVB, Amsterdam.
