PAE - BeHave, Le Fonds Belval, Belval, Luxembourg 2016.
A photographic journey into the slag world. Book: 250 copies, 136 pages, 17 x 24 cm.

The Schlak book is a photographic journey into the world of slag. The book comprises of five photographic series, through which the reader immerses into the anthropogenic world of earth making. The steel production is a kind of artificial volcanic process, during which the metals are melted and “new soil” is generated as by-product. Focusing on the production and heritage of this waste, Licari has elevated those landscapes and materials to something precious and wonderful: a full immersion into the toxic sublime of the man-made world.

This work is the result of a six months residency in Belval, Luxembourg. Public Art Experience - BeHave was curated by Stéphanie Delcroix and Michael Pinsky.

Editorial coordination: Alessandra Prandin - Texts: William Myers, Alessandra Prandin - Graphic design: SA*M*AEL studio - Printer: Cassochrome Belgium. Published in June 2016.
